If I Haven't Seen You Since January...

Alright people, I'm happy to announce that this post will have pictures!! After a heartfelt plea from my sister, it still took me two weeks to post some prego pics. :) But they are here! First, a quick update on what's going on in our lives!

So, The Man kind of interfered with our whole "summer in St. Louis" plan. Basically, Medicaid informed us that, if we weren't currently in Utah using our prenatal Medicaid, they had the right to cancel it. Cancelling the health insurance for me and our baby didn't really sit well with us, so we packed up the car and headed back home to Utah the next day. We did some 2,600 miles in a week. Argh. Although, I do think we have a career as truck drivers in our future. :)

We are sad about the missed opportunities, and we were really enjoying our jobs out there, but it is good to be home (and insured!).

As far as this pregnancy goes, the phrase I've kept hearing over and over again in the doctor's office is "right on track," which is a lovely thing to hear. I'll confess, because I was so sick this whole pregnancy, I wasn't able to keep prenatal vitamins down, so every time I went to the doctor, I was very nervous about this little girl's health, but she's doing just great! She's getting nice and big, and is super active!

We took the first picture while we were still in St. Louis, coincidentally the same day that we found out we were going to have to pack up and leave. But it took me a while to get to posting it, so we took another more recent one for good measure!

21 weeks...

Almost 24 weeks...

We will try to keep up with the picture posts from now on! Have a lovely Memorial Day!

I'd like to stick it to The Man today, Jack Black style.

The Man is bringing us down.

Step off.

San Loueee!!!

Aka, Saint Louis.

(You have to say it with a French accent though. It's way more fun that way.)

We have arrived here in beautiful St. Louis, Missouri, and we are all settled and working hard. I don't know if the nesting is kicking in or what, because I have never EVER finished unpacking and setting up my house in one day before. I rarely even feel like starting until three days later. It's sad, but oh so very true. When we moved into my brother in law's house, it was three days before the kitchen was put together, and when we moved into the basement apartment close to my mom's, our home stayed half packed up because we were leaving for Las Vegas 4 days later. Everything got unpacked AFTER we got home. :o)

So needless to say, I was shocked when the urge to unpack everything AND go to the grocery AND cook dinner struck my fancy, but struck my fancy it did. I'm hoping I'll pick up some good habits while I'm here.

We had a long and somewhat uneventful trip out here (I also discovered the camera when we were halfway through Kansas, so no pics... sorry!). But I did learn some things, which I would like to share with you today:

#1- If you just enter a captial city into Mapquest, it will take you to the capitol of the city. (We had planned on staying in Denver our first night, but I don't think the capitol would've let us chill there)
#2- Denny's is delicious. I ate there for the first time. I'm now officially grown up.
#3- Every town in Kansas is home to someone [kind of] famous. And they let you know.
#4- The 2nd friendliest yarn store is in Kansas. Not sure where the 1st one is.
#5- Stress greatly antagonizes my morning sickness. The first morning when we left Utah, I was miserably sick. The next morning when I woke up in Denver, feeling fancy-free, I was not sick for the first time in weeks. I. was. ecstatic. I woke up this morning with no stressful encounters, and yet another sick-free morning. Sheer bliss.
#6- Missouri is beautiful. LOVE IT!
#7- I miss my family, but I do NOT miss the snow that they are still getting.
#8- Next time we're moving, BRING A SHOWER CURTAIN. We've been having baths standing up. Sounds all fantasiful and romantic, but I didn't have singing mice and birds to help me like Cinderella, and it wasn't grand at all.

There's much more, but I don't want to bore you [too late].

On a more serious note, this is my first time living away from my family outside of Cache Valley. I thought it would be very difficult for me, especially considering that I had a very difficult time our last two days in Logan, but I have been doing just fine. For the first time in my life, I left my house not knowing where I was going, and I found a grocery store all on my own. It's a silly thing, but I felt a sense of independence that I haven't ever felt before. I had a very profound epiphany that I could live somewhere outside of Cache Valley, and I could still feel like I was home in a place where I belonged. Very big epiphany to have for this 21-year-old.

I guess being married and pregnant wasn't enough to feel like a grown-up, I needed to be out on my own.

Anywho, as soon as I find a Target and get a shower curtain and some other necessities, I will post pictures of our humble abode!

WHAT have I gotten myself into?

First off, I am excited to announce that we are having a LITTLE GIRL!! Cam was convinced that it was a boy, but when the tech told us it was a girl he got all grinny and misty-eyed. I think this little girl's already got Daddy wrapped around her finger.

Not only did we find out that it's a girl, we found out that this girl is VERY, VERY STUBBORN. I have NO idea where she gets it! :) This baby was facing my back, curled up, and had her hands and her feet in front of her face, and no matter how hard the tech shook my belly (yeah, that hurts today), SHE WOULDN'T BUDGE. It took the tech a good hour to get all of the shots he needed because she refused to move at all (it took him 20 minutes to coax a money shot for gender). I think he was actually working up a sweat and was cursing our difficult child after we left.

What does this mean for me? It means that I am preparing myself for a headstrong little girl that likes things done her way. (If you ask my mother, she'll probably tell you that I deserve one.) But we love that we got to see her for so long, and got a little shot into this baby's personality.

In other news, we are getting ready to ship off for Missouri on Monday, so our next post will hopefully be from there!
