You know how board games can tend to become boring and blase' after time, and how the companies come up with different "versions" of the game to get them all interesting again? Like how they just came out with International Monopoly or The Simpson's Clue?
Well... I was playing The Game of Life with my future sis-in-law last night, and after feeling like complete losers for only getting one kid throughout the whole game, we decided that they should come up with an LDS version of The Game of Life.
This morning I'm feeling like that's a completely brilliant idea, and I'm half tempted to write Matel or Parkers Brothers or whoever the heck produces this game and tell them what a monopoly it would be to produce, "The Game of [Eternal] Life."
Now there would be a few variations in the game....
In the college section: 1-"Serve a mission-miss next two turns, but collect 2 Life tokens" 2-"Get married" 3-"Have first child" 4-"Dean's list" 5-"Participate in some reality tv show" (Shout out to David Archuletta and Benji) 6-"Move in with inlaws (lose next turn)" 7-"Twins!" 8-"Organize a medical mission" and 9-"Memorial Day- visit pioneering ancestor's graves"
In the career/family section: Every two squares would be a "Baby boy!" or "Baby girl!" tile and we'd finally find the "Buy A House" tile, 1-"Youngest person to rise so fast to the top" 2-"Flu season!" 3-"Conference tickets" 4-"Sunbeams teacher-lose next turn" 5-"Go back to school" 6-"Graduate medical school- on to residency! Pick new house" 7-"Finished residency! Found a job-pick new house" 8-"Donate your time serve in a medical mission" and then 9-"Family road trip back to Nauvoo and Palmyra!"
Then in the retiree/older person section: 1-"Serve a mission-lose next turn, collect one Life token" 2-"Participate in Mormon Tabernacle choir" 3-"Called to serve in Bishopric/Relief Society presidency" 4-"You're a grandparent 3 times in one year!" 5-"Called to be a General Authority" and the last square before retirement- 6-"Marry off last child"
I'm also debating whether it would be a "Life" token, or if they would be called "Blessing" tokens instead.
Also... whenever someone spins a ten each member would have to give a tenth of all of their money to tithing.
What do you think? This is all in good fun! I think it would be a hit!

Sounds pretty lame to me. :)
Haha, *I* think it sounds great! :) Hahaha!! P.s. I played Life for the first time in *years* a couple months ago. NO KIDS. Needlessly to say, I won the game with almost TWO million dollars (seriously). But no kids. How does that happen? And I am pretty sure I only had a hubby because you automatically get one when you cross that designated space. I am certainly hoping that MY life won't reflect that GAME of Life. Ugh! :)
