"What's in a name?"
Well... depends. If you ask my father, there is much to be held up from the last name "Wilson." Wilsons are not heathens. Wilsons eat with napkins on their laps, Wilsons have good manners and are polite. Wilsons are responsible. Wilsons follow behind the car in front of them closely when making a left-hand turn.
Don't get me wrong, my father instilled some great values in my mind growing up.
Where is this all leading?
I recently had an epiphany.
With accepting this wonderful man to become my husband, I will also be taking on his last name. Therefore, will I really be "The Wilson" much longer??? I'll be honest, I am thrilled at the thought of becoming a Cutler, but "The Cutler" just doesn't sound quite the same as "The Wilson." It's a good thing my friend Parker, who christened the name upon me, is in Hong Kong and therefore not here to object the dropping of my nickname. He would not be pleased.
So... in becoming a Cutler, of course I will be taking on my fabulous table manners, my respect for elders and nervous driving qualities with me, but I wonder what do Cutlers do? Hmmmm... if my children someday have horrible table manners, would I go so far as to remind them that they are Wilsons, and that Wilsons are not heathens? I might.
I suppose my parents can rest in peace knowing that many of the things they taught me in my life are burned into my brain.
Poor kids.
Anyways, just a heads up that I'll be changing my blog's URL at some point in December. MONTHS away, I know. Oh, yeah- I just noticed that my blog title will also have to go. Any suggestions? Feel free to leave a comment.
*I know for a fact that the Cutlers have wonderful traits attached to their name, too. In no way is this a lament for becoming a Cutler. I actually think Haley Cutler sounds quite nice.

You are so funny, Haley! Yeah, it was kind of a freaky thing to think that I was changing my name and everything I've ever known...petrified was a good word to describe the feeling. Anyway, think of it as moving on to another part of your life, and making a new start with the love of your life. And then keep telling yourself that over and over...it gets easier to swallow, I promise! kj
Oh Dear Haley. I am pondering your dilemma of what will become of the Wilson and I have come up with a very original thought for you. You could just call it "Cameron and Haley." Or perhaps, "The Cutlers."..I know, I am brilliant.
I figure this will turn into a duo blog anyways after ya get hitched!
And don't you worry, I will always be here to provide original insight into every situation.
Oh Haley. You'll ALWAYS be a Wilson...you'll just also be a Cutler, that's all. The one thing you WON'T ever be again is Single. YAY! :)
I've never quite liked any of my names quite as well as my maiden name, but I also wouldn't change it back.
Looking at the big name change is a weird time for a female, for sure.
I think you'll be a great "Cutler", tough. (Just my 2 cents)
love reading your thoughts!
my mother is from the Tueller name
it has a great heritage and her father's name died out with him since he only had girls. we were all brought up knowing we were Tueller's (and it's not even MY maiden name). The Cutler's are lucky to be getting you!
